Susan Cole of Stanwood just returned from
the United States Adult Soccer Association's national competition for
veterans held in Lancaster, Massachusetts this year. Our Washington
team, Seattle's Best, comprised of over-55 players from the Puget Sound
area, were undefeated in tournament play to bring home the championship
trophy.
Other Snohomish County players on the team included: Ginny Wehr of Everett, Chris Hass, Dorrine Zelmer, and Linda Kautz of Snohomish, and Peggy Hoffer of Bothell. Linda's son Ryan was the Everett Herald high school player of the year this spring, and as goalkeeper she only allowed one goal in the tournament's 5 games. |

In
their flight they played teams from Georgia, California, Texas, and
Michigan. Susan scored 3 of the 15 team goals from her center
midfield position including the winning goal in the final against
Michigan Motion from Detroit. Susan was a recent recipient of the
Sounders FC Golden Scarf for service and dedication to soccer, and has
refereed many soccer games in the Everett area for the last 25 years.
