NAOMI JOHNSON RECEIVES BARNEY KEMPTON AWARD

SCASA's Naomi Johnson was honored for her volunteer work, receiving the Barney Kempton Award from WSASA President, Tim Busch, May 9th 2015.

​

The Barney Kempton Award for volunteerism in Washington state soccer.

​

George “Barney” Kempton was the Secretary of the Washington State Association for decades. Kempton also served as Junior Commissioner and a soccer correspondent for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Kempton, who was born in Northern Ireland and came to America as a young man in 1910, played for teams in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver and Prince Rupert before retiring as a player in 1934. Kemtpon was inducted into the US Soccer Hall of Fame in 1950.

The 11th annual WSASA Hall of Fame Awards were held on May 10, 2014, at the Country Village Courtyard Hall in Bothell.  Congratulations to the following award recipients.
